A scaffolding banner is often several hundred square metres and is seen from far away. That asks different things of the artwork than an ad on a screen. Here is what you need to know before the design goes to print.
We always send the exact dimensions and specifications for each site. This guide gives you the overview.
File format
- A vector PDF is best. Text and logo stay sharp at any size.
- Convert fonts to outlines, so nothing changes at the printer.
- High-quality images. A large format is seen from a distance, so the resolution at full size can be far lower than for paper. But the original photo must be sharp and large, or it will look grainy.
- Deliver at the scale we specify, often 1:10, so the file stays manageable.
Safe zones
The banner is fixed to the scaffolding all the way around. Keep text and logo well in from the edges, so nothing disappears behind scaffolding tubes or fixings. We give you the zone for each site.
Mesh or solid material
Many scaffolding banners are printed on mesh, a material with small holes that lets the wind through. Mesh makes colours slightly lighter and fine details less clear, so avoid very thin fonts and small details, and give the colours a little extra strength.
Design that reads from a distance
- Seven words at most. People pass at speed and have a few seconds.
- Strong contrast between text and background.
- One image rather than several small ones.
- A logo that can be recognised from far away. Make it bigger than you think.
Test the design by looking at it small on a phone. If you can read it there, it can be read on the scaffolding. More advice in creative best practices for OOH.
Think about the site
A space seen from both directions, or one seen at an angle from an arterial road, may need the key message on one side. Ask us how people see your particular site before you fix the layout.
Deadline
Print-ready artwork must reach us at least 10 working days before the campaign starts. We check the files and send a proof for approval before the banner is printed.
We handle print, installation and the municipal permit on scaffolding. See the available sites on scaffolding advertising, or write to us for the specifications of a particular site.
